WordPress “Gutenberg” blocks boilerplate
The code base we are using to develop custom Gutenberg blocks has been made available to the public.
If you are a WordPress Developer you can use this boilerplate as a basis for creating and integrating blocks in a theme.
Go to the GitHub repository, download the boilerplate and follow the instructions.
The Source Code is licensed under GPLv2 and has been published on GitHub.

Material Components for the web…
Material Components for the web (MDC Web) is the successor to the Material Design Lite (MDL) project and the Material Design Starter Theme has been rewritten to use the new Material Components.
Heads up. The Theme had to be rewritten completely. If you need to update an older MDL codebase, please follow this migration tutorial provided by Google: Migration from MDL
Changelog
- Bower is now deprecated and the package management has been replaced by npm
- Material Design Components instead of Material Design Lite
- Minor WordPress Coding improvements
- Tested with WordPress v4.9+
Download the Theme
Feel free to test out the new Starter Theme by downloading it using the Theme Generator:

Bootstrap 4.2 and Bootstrap 3.4 released
Bootstrap 4.2 has been released yesterday with new features and bugfixes. Our WordPress Bootstrap Starter Theme v2.0 is fully compatible with this minor update.
Furthermore an update for Bootstrap 3 has been shipped with important bugfixes.

them.es+ has been deprecated and will be removed
Our them.es+ plugin has not received much love recently and we decided to put it into EOSL status. This means that the code base will not receive any further updates and we can not provide any support anymore. Please note that the plugin will be removed from the WordPress plugin directory and from Github (sooner or later).
Gutenberg has become the new default editor in WordPress 5.0, superseding shortcode driven editing experience to the greatest possible extent (which is good by the way!). From now on WordPress developers should put their efforts into improving Gutenberg which will be the indisputable future of WordPress.
In this scenario them.es+ doesn’t fit in anymore.

Bootstrap 4.1 has been released and our WordPress Bootstrap Starter Theme v2.0 is fully compatible with this minor update.
Go on and update your NPM dependencies to receive the new framework package.

them.es Starter v2 ready
Bootstrap 4 has arrived and our Starter Theme has been updated with a new Code base.
Changelog
- Bower is now deprecated and the package management has been replaced by npm
- Bootstrap has been updated to the latest release v4.0.0
- LESS has been removed because Bootstrap 4 only supports SASS
- New /assets directory where all Frontend related assets (img, js, css) can be bundled
- Minor WordPress Coding improvements
- Tested with WordPress v4.9

Starter SPA issues
I installed this theme locally, and I ran into a few problems. When I click one of the WordPress admin links at the top of the page (Customize, Edit Page, etc.) I get “404/Not found”. The URL appears in the address bar, and I have to position the cursor in it and hit enter to open the link. Whether I’m logged in or not, when I type the site URL into the address bar, it opens on the 404 page, and I have to click one of the menu links to see the page. I have it set up for a static home page, by the way.

The SPA Starter Theme has been designed as a Single Page Application. I.e. All links (even the WordPress internal links) are routed via page.js
So you’ll have to open them in a new tab or hit enter again.If your Front page displays a 404 error…
1. Go to Settings > Reading
2. Front page displays: A Static page
3. Select your Homepage
4. Save changesThis has been documented here: https://them.es/starter-spa/download

The wp-admin redirect now works in the latest release v1.0.4 – You can download a new customized theme or add the following line in index.php: https://github.com/them-es/themes-starter-spa/blob/b1d2a9e029cdc038a9a36f8f52e0e9e79733ac7c/index.php#L199-L206

Hi, thanks for responding. I downloaded the new version and installed it on a local server. Unfortunately, it’s still not working. Before, when I’d click on a link, I’d get a 404 in the content area of the theme. Now, it takes me to a separate page with a “not found” error message. Here’s what’s strange, though- I installed it online on a free host, and it worked fine. Maybe the problem lies with my local server installation.

Maybe “mod_rewrite” is not enabled on your local server. And/Or your Permalink settings are wrong.
Try to set the Permalink structure to “Day and name”.
